Environment, Planning and Heritage

The Retention Licence application is wholly within the Wellington local government area. The application covers private land mostly zoned as Farming and Crown land mostly zoned as Public Conservation. Small areas are covered by Environmental Significance Overlays.

GSER will develop and implement an Environmental Management Plan (EMP) as part of its statutory Work Plan. This plan will include, but not be limited to, the following issues:
  • Threatened species management
  • Erosion control
  • Weed control
  • Rehanilitation and revegetation of work areas
  • Contamination
State based information records multiple areas of cultural heritage sensitivity. These are generally located along water courses.  For activities that cause significant ground disturbance, a Cultural Heritage Management Plan (CHMP) will be prepared before commencing this work within areas of cultural heritage sensitivity.  The CHMP will report the results of an assessment of any Aboriginal cultural heritage present in the area, along with recommendations for measures to be taken before, during and after an activity to manage and protect any Aboriginal heritage identified.

Maps providing an initial assessment of these other issues are available for download below:
